A powerful product of Nissan Diesel is its CWB450, 10-wheeler dump truck which is well known in the market especially in the mining industries. With its “Intercooler” accessories, it is capable of doing hard labor. The old CWB450 has a 290 metric horsepower but with the introduction of its new intercooler accessories it dramatically increases to 320 metric horsepower, making it more adaptable in harsh environment of mining.
The basic principle of intercooler is cooling the air that comes from the turbocharger before it enters the
combustion engine. This helps increase the efficiency of the combustion process inside the engine, increasing the output power of the unit. This process is the same as the principle of radiator cooling water. Studies show that air temperature coming from the turbocharger reaches 100 – 200 degrees Celsius which affects the combusting process, but with the introduction of intercooler in the process, it lessens the heat in the air to 40-60 degrees Celsius, decreasing the amount of heat for as much as 70%. One cause of turbocharger failure is heat, new units that uses turbocharger sometimes reaches 700 – 900 degrees Celsius that causes heat fatigue and cracks in the components but with the help of the intercooler, it would surely lessen the possibility of this problem.
Another accessory that we could find in CWB450 is its air dryer system which is connected near the air reservoir. It serves as a filter for air, removing any moist or water, automatically discharging it out of the unit. Mechanic and drivers usually encountered brake valve problem, clutch booster problem etc. because of water contamination in the air reservoir. To prevent and extend the life of these said parts, technical personnel from Nissan Diesel advise to install “Air Dryer”. Although drivers are usually advised to drain the air tank every morning after or before work, it would be best to install these accessories for us to be sure. Air dryer is a big piece of can that looks like a filter, made of silica gel, that filters and trap water residue in air, before it goes to the vital parts of the brake and clutch system of the unit. It is usually found near the air tank were drivers could easily found it.
